Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter Melted not too hot
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil Keeps brownies moist
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar You can reduce slightly if needed
  • 2 large Eggs Room temperature works best
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract Adds depth
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour Do not overmeasure
  • 1/3 cup Cocoa powder Use good quality
  • 1/4 tsp Salt Balances sweetness
  • 1/4 tsp Baking powder Just a little lift
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate chips Optional but recommended

Equipment

  • 8x8 baking pan
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • parchment paper

Method

Step 1. Start with the Base
  1. Melt butter gently. I usually do it in short microwave bursts.
  2. Add sugar and oil while it’s still warm—not hot. It should look glossy and slightly thick.
Step 2. Eggs Go In
  1. Whisk in eggs one at a time. The mixture should turn smooth and slightly lighter in color.
  2. This step matters. I rushed it once—result: dense, flat brownies.
Step 3. Flavor Boost
  1. Add vanilla. Small step, big difference.
Step 4. Dry Ingredients
  1. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Fold gently. Do NOT overmix. The batter should look thick and slightly shiny.
Step 5. Chocolate Chips (Optional but Worth It)
  1. Fold them in lightly.
Step 6. Bake It Right
  1. Pour into lined pan and bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 20–25 minutes.
  2. The center should still be slightly soft when you pull it out.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for that restaurant-style experience.
